    Rachel Joyce’s Books Ranked

Rachel Joyce is one of my favorite authors. Her books are not for the faint hearted however, and while she is one of the authors I most recommend, I absolutely do not recommend reading any of her books when you are at a low point as their sadness can be not only contagious, but also consuming. All that aside you won’t find an author to better get in your brain. Here is my definitive ranking of her American works, (I believe she has more released overseas, but these are the only ones I have been able to get my hands on here). We have all of Rachel Joyce’s books ranked…

Fictional Books to Make Music Lovers Swoon

Looking for a music focused fiction book that you’ll love as much as you love jamming to your favorite tunes, don’t miss any of these books: The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto by Mitch Albom If you can listen to this in its audiobook format I heavily recommend it. I was absolutely hooked. This story tells the life of Frankie Presto and how music not only shapes and changes his life, but how he uses it to change and shape those around it. It’s catchy and a true music enthusiast will appreciate how Albom utilized American music history to keep it fun and fresh in almost a Forrest Gump-esk way.…

Alternative Timeline Books that will make you go hmm…

If you are a believer that anything that can happen will happen, alternative time lines, or that other possible realms are simultaneously occurring then I recommend the following fun fictional reads: If Then by Kate Hope Day A small town in Oregon is very close to a not so dormant volcano that is causing the people on a street to see alternative realties. The sideways sliding timelines let us in on some unexpected character development that is both thought provoking and satisfying. Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkin Reid This book was very similar to the movie Sliding Doors, before Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop! days, but it is so well…

Books for Bibliophiles who love Bookstores

The only thing a true bibliophile loves more than books is book stores. For that reason I could not help but create a list of books for bibliophiles who love bookstores. There are many out there, but here are a few of my favorites. Bonus points, find one at your local bookstore, and see if anything magical happens when you walk inside: Mr. Penumbra’s 24 Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan This book is about a clerk who loses his job and the only job he can get is in a 24 hour bookstore who has some of the most interesting patrons. When he starts to dive into who these individuals…

The Last Boy and Girl in the World by Siobhan Vivian

As the topic of closure for students keeps coming up, with so many schools and graduations and what not being cancelled to help stop the spread of COVID 19, my thoughts keep coming back to this novel. I am a firm believer that there is a book for all situations. If you have a senior that missed out on prom and graduation, this just may be the answer. The book follows a small group of friends, and other students on the periphery in high school as their small town undergoes a huge event. The students who are all forced to move on without the tradition closure, and what that means…

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne

Be still my beating heart. I know I may be late to the game, but I just finished the Hating Game and Wow! Did I love it! The story was so well thought out. Josh may just have become one of my favorite male characters of all time. I know I am still riding the book buzz, having recently finished, but I just love everything about this book.  What girl doesn’t dream about having a man pine for her the way we find Josh does or notice all the little details. Oh and that bedroom ending. Swoon. Sigh. Apparently I like my men tall dark and fictional, sorry dear husband. From…
