Fictional Books to Make Music Lovers Swoon

Looking for a music focused fiction book that you’ll love as much as you love jamming to your favorite tunes, don’t miss any of these books:

The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto by Mitch Albom

The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto by Mitch Albom

If you can listen to this in its audiobook format I heavily recommend it. I was absolutely hooked. This story tells the life of Frankie Presto and how music not only shapes and changes his life, but how he uses it to change and shape those around it. It’s catchy and a true music enthusiast will appreciate how Albom utilized American music history to keep it fun and fresh in almost a Forrest Gump-esk way. If you love the VH1 Behind the Music series, this book will be for you!

The Music Shop by Rachel Joyce

The Music Shop by Rachel Joyce

As with all of Rachel Joyce’s books she is able to dive deep into emotions, but this time through music. This story focuses about a central character who owns a music shop and uses music to cure all, much like Little Paris Bookshop‘s owner utilized books. He has a tune to treat whatever ails you, or to change your frame of mind entirely. When a special patron walks into his store one day his life is turned upside down. Can music fix for him what he has done for others? Find out and see.

The Best of Adam Sharp by Graeme Simsion

In the Graeme Simsion’s first book outside of the Rosie Project series, he follows the misadventure of a musician’s second chance with his first love. While this is towards to bottom of my list of Graeme Simsion’s favorite novels, it is witty and entertaining and captivating, though not necessarily for the faint of moral hearted.

Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Reid Jenkins

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Reid Jenkins

If you have read any of Jenkins other novels you know she is a master at crafting deep relationships with her characters; this novel is one of her peak works. This story follows two alpha musicians during the 70’s LA music scene, Daisy Jones a famous child socialite who is coming of age and coming to terms with who she really is and Billy Dunne the band leader who isn’t used to taking a backseat to anyone. Can the two work to together to make musical magic, or will the whole thing just fall to pieces like their personal lives. I love the way the book is written and hope you will too; fiction so good you believe its real. It is in production at Amazon for a mini series, so be sure to check it out before you watch!

The Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jimenez

The Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jimenez

While Daisy Jones deals mostly with song writing and a little with touring, The Happy Ever After Playlist focuses more on tour life with a little on song writing. This is a love story, and a follow-up to Jimenez’s The Friend Zone. When the protagonist unknowingly falls for a rising star in the music industry, the couple struggles with all the things stardom brings and all the things they did not anticipate signing up for. For anyone who has ever loved and lost, or just like the quiet cabin life, this book will bring all the feels.
