Ooey Gooey Yummy Black Bean Brownies
One thing I keep seeing pop up on my feed has been variations of black bean or zucchini brownies. Before the quarantines started my friend had a bake-off at work and the winner was actually black bean brownies. Knowing how delicious my friend’s treats were, and knowing that these could have overtook hers, I had to try them for myself. Since I was unable to get my hands on the recipe of the winner, I did a quick search through the recipes that I found online and they all seemed to point back to a blog, Chocolate Covered Katie. I found her particular recipe had almost 1500 reviews and a…

Patriotic Summer Wreath
Are you looking for a cheap and easy craft to spruce up your place for the summer holidays? This one is a real winner! Not only can you do this with your kids, a great fine motor builder, but you can use it for all the summer holidays, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Fourth of July. The best part, you can make your place festive for less than $20, which is less than any wreath I have found premade this year. Last year we got a storm door for our house. It has been a tremendous improvement to our home. A substantial drop in our energy bills and even better, no…

The Last Boy and Girl in the World by Siobhan Vivian
As the topic of closure for students keeps coming up, with so many schools and graduations and what not being cancelled to help stop the spread of COVID 19, my thoughts keep coming back to this novel. I am a firm believer that there is a book for all situations. If you have a senior that missed out on prom and graduation, this just may be the answer. The book follows a small group of friends, and other students on the periphery in high school as their small town undergoes a huge event. The students who are all forced to move on without the tradition closure, and what that means…

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
Be still my beating heart. I know I may be late to the game, but I just finished the Hating Game and Wow! Did I love it! The story was so well thought out. Josh may just have become one of my favorite male characters of all time. I know I am still riding the book buzz, having recently finished, but I just love everything about this book. What girl doesn’t dream about having a man pine for her the way we find Josh does or notice all the little details. Oh and that bedroom ending. Swoon. Sigh. Apparently I like my men tall dark and fictional, sorry dear husband. From…

The Mother-In-Law by Sally Hepworth
After listening to The Mother-In-Law by Sally Hepworth, I am still reeling a bit. What a wonderfully written story, intricately woven in a relatable story about the delicate dance between Mother and Daughters in law. The story follows Lucy as she meets, marries, and builds a family with Ollie. The story takes a turn when Diana, Ollie’s mother turns up dead. The story runs both currently and in the past, alternating between Diana and Lucy’s point of view. I do not typically like suspense novels or whodunits, but this book was the perfect balance between thrilling and intriguing without scaring me. It is a page turner you won’t want to…

Dear Edward by Ann Napolitano
I just recently finished a book Dear Edward that was kind of fascinating. It was about a young boy, 10 maybe, who was on a plane with his parents, brother, and 100 strangers that crashed and he was the sole survivor of the crash. It focuses on what lead up to the crash and what happens to him after. What really was interesting to me was, this actually happened, well sort of. In 2010 in Africa there was a Dutch boy who was the lone survivor of a plane crash too. The author became obsessed with the story, but not much else was ever known about the boy except for…

Dear Edward- Quick Peak
Summary: The story follows the passengers aboard a plane which is going to crash. Simultaneously it follows the life of the boy who is the soul survivor of the crash, and what happens to him in the aftermath. Hook: What would it feel like to be the soul survivor of a mass tragic event.Important Aspects: Public events do not necessarily mean private people want to live public lives. Conclusion: It takes more strength than luck to survive. Similar Books: I could draw similarities to The Goldfinch in being the lone survivor and what that does to a person long term If you like this read that: Educated, while the storylines…

How Each Book is Posted
I just wanted to take a short minute to explain how I post each book so that you can better navigate my site and find what you are looking for. Each book has three separate postings: Quick Peak, Review, and Book Club Questions Answered. I have found that most people fit into two categories with blog sites, those who love reading about other people’s lives, stories, and origins and those that just want to skip over all that and go straight to the recipe already!!!! For those of you who just want to get to the meat of it, I have Quick Peaks. It is quite literally just a quick…
