    Homemade Masks Reviewed

There are a lot of things out there about the homemade masks. Having made four of the most popular ones over the course of the last few weeks, I thought it may be worth it for you to gain some of the knowledge I have. I think it bears noting that there seems to be two different styles of homemade masks, those that are rectangular and pleated versus those that are flat but more contoured to fit the face. Masks #1 and #2 are pleated and Masks #3 and #4 are contoured. MASK #1: Missouri Quilting Company Mask Review The first mask I tried came from the Missouri Quilting Company.…

Riding the Elephant by Craig Ferguson

When I was in the throws of pregnancy and both very anxious and very sick, I used to watch Celebrity Name Game. The witty banter and calming voice of Craig Ferguson got me through some pretty rough times with some mindless fun. I truly missed the show when it was taken off the air, so when I saw he had book coming out I just had to check it out. I opted for the audiobook so that I could hear his voice again. His even tone and insightful observations proved to be a good diversion to an otherwise stressful week. His thoughts meandered and his stories were both humorous and…

Where’d You Go Bernadette By Maria Semple

When I think about certain books, you can’t help but laugh about how they come into your life. One of those books stems from my fascination with the Gilmore Girls. I was a late convert to the show, in fact I only started watching when it first went into syndication on what was then ABC Family. Once hooked, I was OBSESSED. Alas, as all good shows do, it ended and I was left with a void. Then came Bunheads, the Pallidino’s (Amy and her husband Dan) first forray back into television. The premise centered around Michelle, a dancer turned showgirl who was wooed by a stale but dedicated fan. When…

    Simple Crusty Bread

One of our family’s favorite things to do, especially with the little one is to make homemade bread. Especially in the winter months, we make this often, almost once a week. There are lots of different recipes out there, but really there is only one that we keep coming back to, over and over again. Despite the little one’s measuring and meddling, it never seems to fail to come out. At a time when everything seems complicated the recipe couldn’t be easier: 1 packet of .25 oz Yeast (We recommend Fleischmann’s Rapid Rise Instant Yeast) 2.5 cups of water, 120 degrees warm A literal pinch of brown sugar 5 cups…
