Praise: I loved the slow burn of the romance. How they took their time to get to really know each other. It really made you feel like you knew the characters too and made their hookup not only more believable, but also more desirable, like you wanted them to hookup more than Lucy did. I also liked how the families tied in. Some lesser developed love stories almost feel like they are in a vacuum, this was different. The banter was witty, the writing was sharp.
Critique: Nothing? Ok one thing . I wanted more. The slow burn got me hooked. Can we please have more Josh Templeman? Please??? But seriously, the character descriptive got a bit redundant by the end. We know Lucy is short, we know Josh is a perfect specimen. That can feel a little like the author is beating you over the head with it. Also, it’s fictional, so it can mess with real life expectations which will enviably fall short.
Where I read: I stayed up all night to finish this one because I could not get enough audiobook, could not put this one down.
Where you should read: On your favorite couch under a gray blanket.
Book or audio book: Audiobook!
Reader critique/ font critique: The reader gave true vulnerability to Lucy.
Why you should read it: Read it and fall in love before the movie comes out!
Why is it special: This book, although reminiscent of a great 90’s romcom does more it adds a layer of character Development that will leave you both smug and satisfied. Anyone who appreciates witty banter will love this.
What do you need to know if you didn’t read it: Any Gilmore Girl fan who swooned over Luke and Lorelei when he took out his horoscope on their first fancy date will be over the moon with this one. Feeling sad and lonely this book will bring joy back to your heart.
What should you take away/remember: Hate isn’t the opposite of love, indifference is.
